Catherine C. Bennett, 89, formerly of Newport passed away at Care Haven of Pleasants at 5:50 pm, Friday, January 12, 2018.  She was born February 9, 1928, in Pleasants County, WV, to Richard and Sarah Belle Selman Bennett.
 
Catherine provided care for the elderly for several years.  She was a Methodist by faith.  Catherine enjoyed working in her beautiful flower garden, spending time with her kids and grandkids, working puzzles, playing Bingo and going to church to praise her Savior Jesus.
 
Catherine is survived by 2 sons and 2 daughters:  Billy G. (companion Carol) Bayless of Newport, Ronnie G. (Mary) Bayless of Marietta, Theresa Riggs of St. Marys, Janet (Randy) Hasley of Marietta; grandchildren:  Dusta and Billy Stull, Shawn and Scott (Keri) Covey, Larissa (Levi), Gail (Fred), David and Missy Bayless; great grandchildren:  Sarah, Seth, Zach, Sierra, D.J., Kasey, Allie, Victor, Kaitlyn and 2 expected great, great grandchildren in February.   She is also survived by her sister Deloris (Jack) Peckins.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers:  Aubrey, Charles Delo, Lester and Spence Bennett; 2 sisters:  Stella Wherry and infant sister Thelma Ruth Bennett and by her children's father George Bayless.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Jan. 17) at 10:00 am at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor David Beaver officiating.  Interment will follow in Newport Cemetery.  Family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8.  Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.Lankfordfh.com.
